Pep Guardiola has raved about reported Tottenham Hotspur target Gabriel Jesus on Manchester City’s official website.

The City boss has spoken highly of the Brazil international striker, and has suggested that he wants the 24-year-old to stay at the club.

Guardiola told City’s official website about Jesus: “I would say we play with recognised strikers. Gabriel is an incredibly important player for us. He can play as a striker or wider.

“He is exceptional and he has a key role for us for many years and been a big part of the huge success we’ve had every season.”

Tottenham Hotspur speculation

Jesus has been linked with a move to Tottenham in the summer transfer window in a potential swap deal involving Harry Kane.

The Sun reported last month that the 24-year-old could replace Kane at City, who are keen on bringing the England international striker to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Daily Star reported in May interest from Tottenham in the Brazil international, who is valued at £70 million.

Could a transfer happen?

Guardiola seems to rate Jesus highly, but the fact that he wants to sign Kane shows that he thinks that the Spurs star is better.

Of course, it is important to have options in a squad, but Ferran Torres has played upfront for the Citizens.

If Tottenham want Jesus to be included in any deal for Kane, then it is hard to see City turn that down.

Whether or not Jesus would want to be involved in any deal is another matter.
