Former Aston Villa man Gabriel Agbonlahor has suggested that he would be keen to sign for Celtic, if the opportunity arose.

Gabriel Agbonlahor has told the Daily Record that he wants a move to Celtic, but Brendan Rodgers shouldn’t sign him.

Celtic may have had past success by signing players who have struggled at Aston Villa, with Scott Sinclair turning into a star at Parkhead.

But Agbonlahor would not be a worthwhile addition for the Bhoys squad, given his struggles of late.

Agbonlahor has scored just three goals in as many years at Villa, and he doesn’t have time on his side.

The forward appears to have lost some of his electric pace which made him a threat in his younger years, and at the age of 31, his best days may well be behind him.

When Sinclair arrived at Celtic, he may not have been in good form, but he still had plenty of time to recover and find his best – meaning he was a worthwhile investment.

But Agbonlahor would simply look like a desperate signing for Rodgers’ side, and he should be overlooked, even if he wants a move to Parkhead.
