Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react after Gabriel Martinelli used the word ‘process’ to describe the Gunners under Mikel Arteta.

What’s the story?

Well, Martinelli was asked about Arsenal’s progress under the Spaniard, and how he thinks the season has gone so far for the north Londoners.

As quoted by Football Daily, the Brazilian said: “We have a young team with so many good players but it’s a process. We are doing well.”

There wasn’t really anything wrong with Martinelli’s comments, although unfortunately, he used the word which many Arsenal fans have come to hate.

The word ‘process’ has become a buzzword under Arteta, and is commonly used to encourage patience amongst supporters during rough patches.

Alexandre Lacazette even had custom boots made with the phrase ‘trust the process’ written on them.

However, the word is starting to cause angst at the Emirates Stadium, as some fans feel that poor results can no longer be blamed on the fact Arsenal are in a process.

Arsenal must give Gabriel Martinelli a chance at centre-forward

Sadly, Martinelli hasn’t really had an extended run in the starting XI since Arteta replaced Unai Emery.

In fairness, the 20-year-old suffered a bad injury during that time, although Arteta hasn’t used him much since he returned to full fitness.

Now, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette struggling, we feel it’s time for Martinelli to get a chance in a centre-forward role.

As noted by Football London, Arteta has already said that centre-forward is the South American’s best position.

Martinelli was also seen to be doing customised training drills last season, which hinted that Arteta was trying to coach him into a central striker.

Now, we believe Arteta should test out a frontline of Emile Smith Rowe, Martinelli and Bukayo Saka – it could be the start of something special.

For now, let’s see what the Arsenal fans on Twitter have been saying about Martinelli’s comments…
