Several Manchester United stars missed out on international call-ups this summer after an underwhelming Premier League campaign.
The Red Devils have eight players competing in the 2024 Euros with Kobbie Mainoo and Luke Shaw both making Gareth Southgate‘s England squad.
Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Harry Maguire would have all hoped to have been involved with England this summer but missed out – although the latter was set to join the squad before being ruled out through injury.
Southgate has been criticised in years gone by for not picking the most in-form players for tournaments but he made a statement by leaving out some big names from his latest squad.
However, he is yet to justify his squad selection with England struggling to click in Germany.
Gabby Agbonlahor says Marcus Rashford could fix ‘problem’
England’s biggest problems seem to lie in attack, where – ironically – they boast some of the brightest talents across Europe.
Gabby Agbonlahor criticised England’s players for coming short for the ball before explaining that the current system would suit Rashford.

“The problem is that everyone is coming short, everyone wants the ball to feet,” Agbonlahor said on talkSPORT.
“We played Trent [Alexander-Arnold] and then we played no one that makes runs in behind. If we are playing Trent in that role then we might as well have brought Rashford as he can make runs in behind.
“I just don’t understand the tactics from Gareth Southgate.”
Marcus Rashford for England
Rashford underperformed last season with just eight goals to his name across all competitions.

His omission from the England squad was justified statistically, but he has proved to be a bigger miss than most expected with the side lacking goals and pace.
His record on the international stage is good with 17 goals in 60 caps. Behind Harry Kane, England are lacking a proven goalscorer, especially from out wide.
