Gabby Agbonlahor has given his take on talkSPORT (6:05pm, June 5, 2021) on Aston Villa reportedly beating Arsenal to Emiliano Buendía.

The Athletic are reporting that Buendia is on the verge of joining Villa from Norwich City.

The Villans will pay £35 million to the Canaries for the Argentine playmaker, who has agreed personal terms and has completed his medical.

Arsenal also reportedly wanted the 24-year-old, according to the report.

The Mirror has claimed interest in the attacking midfielder from Arsenal as well, and has reported that the deal is expected to be completed in the next 72 hours.

Former Villa striker Agbonlahor has given his take on the rumour.

Agbonlahor said on talkSPORT (6:05pm, June 5, 2021): “To have beaten Arsenal to him even makes it a bit better because it shows Villa are a big club and he wants to come and take Villa to the next level. Great player, and he will add a lot more as well to the attacking threat that Aston Villa have got.”

Buendia is a very good and creative player who will make Villa better.

Jack Grealish is the creator-in-chief for the Villans, and the Argentine will complement him.

Arsenal’s reported interest in the 24-year-old is understandable.

Martin Odegaard has returned to his parent club Real Madrid from his loan spell at Arsenal.

The Gunners need to find a suitable replacement, and Buendia would have been a good signing.

Buendia scored 15 goals and gave 16 assists in the Championship this past season.

During the 2018-19 campaign, the creative player scored eight goals and gave 12 assists in the Premier League.
