Ibrox club Rangers appointed Gerrard as their manager in the summer, and the Gers have been doing well so far.
Rangers have progressed to the group stage of the Europa League and are also challenging Old Firm rivals Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title.
Agbonlahor is a free agent at the moment following his departure Villa in the Championship in England at the end of last season.
The 31-year-old, who can also operate as a winger, recently told The Scottish Sun that he wants to join Celtic, and the Englishman has praised Gerrard for the impact the Rangers manager has made on Scottish football.
Agbonlahor told The Scottish Sun: “More people are tuning into Scottish football down south now because Steven Gerrard is the manager of Rangers.
“There was huge interest in last week’s Old Firm game. The English press built it up a lot more and previews were being shown every minute on Sky Sports.
“Everybody was watching that game. I rushed home myself to see it. “I got in at 11am, even though I knew the kick-off was at 12 — I just wanted to watch all the build-up. It’s a fascinating game.”
Massive impact
Gerrard is one of the greatest midfielders of all time and is a global name, and his appointment as the manager of Rangers was a blockbuster move by the Gers.
While Celtic are clearly the best and strongest team in the Scottish Premiership, Rangers will be aiming to close the gap on their bitter Old Firm rivals.
