Gabby Agbonlahor has told TalkSPORT Edge has picked Newcastle United ace Bruno Guimaraes over Arsenal star Martin Odegaard in his combined Arsenal and Newcastle side – which was posted ahead of Tuesday’s 0-0 draw.
The two sides played out an enthralling, feisty 0-0 draw at The Emirates. Arsenal were the better side but a draw, on reflection, was probably a fair result. Newcastle had their chances, Joelinton coming close at the back post to score.
The draw sees Arsenal go eight points clear at the top of the Premier League. It is only the second time this season they have dropped points – the other being a 3-1 defeat to Manchester United. Manchester City have a game in hand.
That game in hand comes against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Thursday evening. A huge clash at this early stage in the title race. Newcastle remain in third, keeping six consecutive clean sheets with Nick Pope in goal, in the League.
Ahead of the game, Agbonlahor was asked to pick between either Guimaraes, or Arsenal skipper Odegaard. He said: “I’m going to go with Guimaraes, you know, with what he has done in that Newcastle side. He has been outstanding.”

It is a really tough one. Arguably, two of the best midfielders in this season’s Premier League. Guimaraes has been limited of late to playing a holding midfield role with Jonjo Shelvey injured. But he has taken to it like a duck to water.
In front of him, Sean Longstaff and ex-Arsenal man Joe Willock have provided the energy and up and down the pitch. For Arsenal, Odegaard has probably been his side’s best player. Seven goals and five assists in 16 League games.
So, the call is close. But given Arsenal wanted to sign Guimaraes from Lyon prior to Newcastle doing a deal with the Ligue 1 side, shows just how much the Gunners should have got a deal over the line for the Brazil international.
