Crystal Palace claimed a 2-2 draw against West Ham United on Saturday.
Danny Gabbidon has defended Michail Antonio after the West Ham United winger came in for criticism for his part in Crystal Palace’s equaliser on Saturday.
Antonio saw his cross easily gathered by Palace goalkeeper Julian Speroni deep into second half stoppage time at Selhurst Park – a move from which the Eagles went on to score courtesy of Wilfried Zaha less than a minute later.
But according to Gabbidon, who played for both West Ham and Crystal Palace before retiring two years ago, the Hammers’ defence should also face the music.
“Antonio receiving stick for his part in the Palace goal but once hes crossed it watch how long it takes for u to see the #WHU Def. So deep”, posted the Welshman on Twitter.
Goals from Javier Hernandez and Andre Ayew gave West Ham a 2-0 half-time lead against Palace, but Roy Hodgson’s side responded after the break through Luka Milivojevic’s penalty, prompting a nervy final 40 minutes for the visitors.
Zaha’s equaliser caused Hammers boss Slaven Bilic to collapse to his knees on the touchline, with the Croatian’s future still uncertain.
Had they held on for the win, 16th-place West Ham would have been 13th in the table.
