The right-back tore his knee ligament in a pre-season friendly game against AFC Wimbledon in July

Queens Park Rangers look set to be welcoming back Darnell Furlong into the first-team equation, after the right-back completed the first-half of a behind-closed-dooors friendly against West Ham United.
Thursday’s game saw QPR run out 3-1 winners but most importantly, Furlong came through unscathed as he looks to build up his fitness. The 22-year-old will be aiming to regain his match sharpness over the coming weeks, and fans will be happy to see Furlong return.
The academy graduate has been temporarily replaced by Angel Rangel and the veteran full-back has made a strong impression so far. Ultimately, Rangel will move on from Loftus Road but Furlong will have quite the task forcing his way back in first off.
However boss Steve McClaren decides to play it, Furlong’s presence will be a major boost for QPR and with 34 league games still to play, there’s plenty of time for Furlong to have an impact.

Defence has perhaps been QPR’s worst and best area over the course of their first twelve games and Furlong can certainly go about bettering himself as a player, with the rigours of the Championship perfectly suited to his style.
With games against Ipswich Town, Sheffield Wednesday and Aston Villa coming up, Furlong will unlikely be called upon but it’s vital he carries on his return with some strong performances for the U23’s.
