Wolves boss Walter Zenga has called his players in on their day off for an emergency training session following their 4-0 defeat at home to Barnsley.

Four goals inside the final 17 minutes from Conor Hourihane, Adam Hamill, Saidy Janko and Tom Bradshaw helped the visitors seal a convincing victory to stay third in the Championship table while Wolves drop to 16th following three games without a win.

And with a trip to second placed Newcastle coming up for the Wanderers on Saturday (3pm kick-off) Zenga has acted quickly and decided to get his players back training as soon as possible.

The Wolves boss will be concerned not only by his side’s heavy defeat but by Newcastle’s 6-0 victory at QPR and the fact that the Magpies have won six games in a row.

Rafa Benitez’s side also haven’t conceded a goal in their last five matches as Wolves look to bounce back from their humiliating defeat.

Soon after the Barnsley game, Wolves’ Official Twitter account confirmed that Wednesday’s day off would be cancelled and the team would immediately start preparing for Saturday’s match at St. James’ Park.

Zenga is certainly making his feelings clear with his actions as he simply will not accept another heavy defeat this coming weekend.

It won’t be easy against an in-form Newcastle side but the Wolves boss will be hoping today’s emergency session can do the trick and his side end up earning some valuable points against the promotion favourites.
