Speaking on his YouTube channel, Alasdair Gold has shared what he noticed when Tanguy Ndombele was substituted against Morecombe on Sunday.
The French midfielder didn’t perform to his best at the weekend, and he was substituted in the second half.
Despite the fact Spurs were chasing the game, Ndombele trudged off the pitch at an incredibly slow pace, and it’s fair to say that many in the stadium weren’t happy with the former Lyon man’s actions.
However, it wasn’t just fans who were angry. Gold says that he noticed a number of Spurs’ bench players looking rather disappointed and irate with the midfielder.
What’s Gold said about Ndombele?
The journalist shared what he noticed when Ndombele was subbed.
“That was the other thing as well, you could see on the bench. As he (Ndombele) walked by, I could see them down there when I was looking at him and in the photos afterwards. You could see Sonny, Dier, Romero and Reguilon and they were all looking at him. Dier looked furious and they were looking at him like ‘nooo’,” Gold said.
Every right to be angry
It’s never nice to see things like this, but it has to be said, Dier has every reason to be annoyed with Ndombele.
When you’re losing against a League One side in the FA Cup you expect a bit of timewasting, but not from the team that are behind.
Ndombele burned valuable seconds on the clock, and while Spurs eventually came back to win, things could easily have gone awry on another day.
Dier looked angry with his teammate, and we can absolutely understand why.
