
Jermaine Beckford has slammed the ’embarrassing’ decision to issue Liam Cooper with a red card in Leeds United’s trip to Manchester City this afternoon.
Marcelo Bielsa had his captain and centre-back sent off on the stroke of half-time for a challenge on Gabriel Jesus.
At the time, the referee issued Cooper a booking but a VAR check overruled the official and upgraded the card to red.
There did not look to be any malice from the Leeds powerhouse, but his foot was unnaturally high and could have caused a major injury.

Just minutes before, Stuart Dallas had fired Leeds into a shock 1-0 lead against the would-be Premier League champions at the Etihad.
And despite only having 10 men for the entire second half, Bielsa’s side gave a fine account of themselves defensively, but were pegged back by Ferran Torres with only 14 minutes to go.
It looked set to be backs to the wall from there, but Bielsa, with his attacking philosophy, masterminded a shock win as Dallas found the net with a few minutes remaining to complete a stunning win against the biggest of odds.
