Leeds United had a Premier League opener to forget away to Manchester United today.
Bruno Fernandes bagged himself an early hat-trick as the Red Devils thumped Marcelo Bielsa’s side 5-1 at Old Trafford.
Leeds’ director of football Victor Orta is as passionate as anybody at the West Yorkshire club and regularly cuts an animated figure from the stadium, wherever the team is playing.
And according to BBC Sport reporter Simon Stone, that was the case again today.
Fernandes hired the hosts ahead on the half-hour mark and Stone tweeted out that the Spaniard thumped his own seat in frustration over seeing something that he did not like.
Response
It was a dreadful afternoon for the Whites, who also lost this fixture 6-2 at the Theatre of Dreams last season.
The good news is that Bielsa was still able to get a huge response out of his troops after that one and no doubt the Argentine will again.
Leeds’ first home game of the season comes against Everton next week and that should, in theory, represent an easier 90 minutes than what United suffered today.
