Eric Dier has posted a photo on his Instagram where he is alongside his former Tottenham Hotspur teammate, Mousa Dembele.
In 2019, Dembele left Spurs to move to Chinese Super League side, Beijing Guoan, for £11 million man (Guardian) because his injuries kept mounting up and his body could no longer cope with the intense levels of Premier League football.
It was a huge shame because when opposition players are ever asked about their toughest-ever opponents, his name is one that popped up on a number of occasions.
Nonetheless, this was what Dier posted on his Instagram, as he is pictured alongside Dembele on his holidays following the conclusion of the 2021/22 Premier League season.
DEMBELE TO RETIRE AT THE END OF HIS CURRENT CONTRACT
Back in February, there was a lot of talk that Dembele had retired and already hung up his footballing boots at the age of 34.
But the former Belgium international shared on his Instagram that wasn’t the case and he will see off the final year of his contract in China before calling it a day.
Dembele wasn’t somebody who put ridiculous numbers up or provided assist after assist, but one thing is for sure, he will go down as one of Tottenham’s best-ever players.
That’s some feat when he is competing with some serious names, but he is someone who is and will always be fondly remembered by the Tottenham faithful.
Either way, Antonio Conte would love a player of his calibre in the middle of the park because they need that player to drive them forward from the middle of the park.
And, as Spurs fans know too well, the Belgian could do that in his sleep, game in and game out.
