The former Leeds United defender has claimed the club is losing its identity.
Ian Harte says he is ‘fuming’ after attending Leeds United Under-23s’ 2-2 draw with Birmingham City Under-23s on Friday.
Leeds rescued a 2-2 draw at Thorp Arch, courtesy of goals from January recruits Pascal Struijk and Sam Dalby.
Dalby was one of nine British or Irish players included in the Whites’ 16-man squad. Nevertheless, Harte – who spent the best part of a decade at Elland Road – proceeded to launch the following rant on Twitter.
The former Republic of Ireland international posted:
Leeds Under-23s have undergone a sizeable overhaul over the past 12 months, with a succession of new players arriving along with Spanish coach Carlos Corberan.
Despite his exit 14 years ago, Harte continues to have a vested interest in events at Elland Road, as the agent of several Leeds youngsters including one of Friday’s starters, Jack Clarke.
Only two of Leeds’ first team regulars this season – Kalvin Phillips and Ronaldo Vieira – have progressed through the club’s famed academy system in recent years.
