It’s fair to say that Martin Odegaard didn’t look best pleased when Arsenal scored their second goal last night.
Smith Rowe scores
Odegaard was replaced by Emile Smith Rowe late on and soon after being introduced the young Arsenal playmaker found the back of the net.
That could make Odegaard’s task of keeping his starting place more difficult.
As Mikel Arteta turned to high five his coaches, and the rest of Arsenal’s bench were on their feet, Odegaard was left sitting in his seat with a face that didn’t exactly exude joy for his teammate.
Now, in Odegaard’s defence, he may simply have been tired after putting in a big effort on the pitch.
But his reaction to the goal did garner some response from Gunners fans on Twitter.
Attacking options
Arteta now has real options in an attacking sense.
Arsenal’s display was excellent last night, as they thoroughly dominated against West Ham United.
The Gunners picked up a 2-0 victory, with Gabriel Martinelli on the scoresheet as well as Smith Rowe.
With Bukayo Saka and Alexandre Lacazette also in excellent form, there may actually not be a place for Pierre Emerick Aubameyang if he is reintroduced to the squad.
It will also be interesting to see who Arteta picks to start in the central playmaking role in Arsenal’s next game.
Odegaard has been in excellent form of late, and played well again last night, but Smith Rowe’s cameo was very eye catching and he may well be pushing for his starting place again now.
