Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter in anger after hearing that Jan Bednarek’s red card against Manchester United had been rescinded.

Why does this concern Arsenal fans, you might ask?

Well, the Poland international was dismissed after being adjudged to have fouled Anthony Martial, although there wasn’t any contact.

That is exactly what David Luiz was sent off for in the recent 2-1 defeat to Wolves, as he was deemed to have tripped Willian Jose.

However, for whatever reason, the FA have decided to rescind Bednarek’s red card, but ignore Arsenal’s appeal for David Luiz’s to be rescinded too.

Seeing as the two incidents were literally identical, we genuinely can’t understand the thinking behind this outcome.

Arsenal fans have every right to be furious at the FA’s decision.

There is an alarming lack of consistency in this verdict, and it’s quite simply baffling.

The Brazil international will now miss the Gunners’ next three games, while Bednarek is free to face Newcastle in Southampton’s next outing.

Mikel Arteta can still call upon Gabriel Magalhães and Rob Holding, although it’s the principle of the matter – the double standards are certainly worrying.

Let’s see what the Arsenal fans on Twitter have been saying about this news…
