Speaking on the Official Leeds United Podcast, Patrick Bamford has been discussing Tyler Adams and his performances in Leeds training since arriving at the club.
The American has joined Leeds as a replacement for the outgoing Kalvin Phillips, and according to Bamford, the midfielder is settling in well.
Indeed, the striker states that Adams is doing brilliantly in training, stating that he’s full throttle in every session.
Bamford says that Adams is so intense in training that it’s actually irritating.
What’s been said?
Bamford spoke about Adams in Leeds training.
“Ty as well has come in and it’s difficult to fill Kalvin’s role, how good Kal was, but the way Ty wins the ball back as well – he’s doing a good job so far,” Bamford said.
“He and Marc in midfield complement each other nicely. Ty is irritating though. He just appears out of nowhere and he’s full throttle.”
“There was one time a few weeks ago, and I’d just taken the ball down – I think it had gone over Rasmus [Kristensen’s] head and I was just about to shoot – and Ty had no business being there and he slid from 10 metres away.”
“He is full throttle, but they’re good lads.”
Would’ve been perfect under Bielsa
Hearing this about Adams in training we can’t help but think about how good the midfielder would have been under Marcelo Bielsa.
The Argentine’s system, of course, centred around pressing high and running hard, and Adams has the energy and the physicality to pull that off brilliantly.
Adams would probably have bossed the former Leeds manager’s infamous murderball sessions, but sadly, their time at Elland Road didn’t overlap.
Adams is performing brilliantly for Jesse Marsch, but perhaps he’d have been even better in a Bielsa team.
