Cairney tweeted a picture of the thank you note, which also asked for tips, with the caption “the little things”.
Fulham midfielder Tom Cairney has shared a picture of a heart-warming note and a £3 thank you present from what appears to be a young fan.
The 25-year-old shared a picture of the letter, and the coins, on his twitter feed with the caption “the little things”.
The letter read: “To Cairney. I am no going to give facts about Cairney any tips.
“Good skills
“Try to do a bicycle kick
“Run to get the ball fast
“Good player
“From your season ticket holder. I am giving you some money to thank you. COME ON FULLHAM.”
Fulham’s Tom Cairney misses a penalty
After a positive start to the season, where the club won four games in a row across all competitions, Fulham have now not won a game since August.
The club currently sits in 14th place with 14 points from 11 matches and will return after the international break to face Leeds United.
Cairney has notched three league goals and is Fulham’s top scorer so far this season. Time will tell if this youngster’s note can spur him on to find the net a few more in their upcoming fixtures.
After an interview with Sky Sports, the midfielder expressed disbelief at the note going viral, tweeting: “It’s crazy how the little boys letter has gone big!! Magic of football.”
