Jermaine Jenas has blasted Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier for his pair of errors in his side’s 2-1 defeat to Fulham on Saturday.

The French No.1 made a meal of an easy cross to simply catch, letting Harry Wilson wallop the ball into the back of the net.

While for the Cottagers’ second goal of the afternoon, the former Lorient shotstopper simply parried the ball onto Andreas Pereira, allowing him to tap the ball into an empty net.

Jermaine Jenas was extremely critical of Illan Meslier as he cost Leeds United in their loss against Fulham.

The 20-year-old is renowned as being one of the most promising young goalkeepers in Europe, with many holding the belief that he will become world-class one day.

However, it would be far from the truth to deny that Meslier does not have a tendency of making mindless errors, a trait he is yet to erase from his game.

“It’s almost a carbon copy of the first goal. The concern is how easy they are to break on. It’s again weak from the goalkeeper, collect it or punch it, don’t knock it down!”, he said on BBC Sport.

“There are faults all the way throughout that goal. He’s [Meslier] made two mistakes that have cost his team.”

The indecisiveness in the youngster’s decision-making was alarming and considering the Whites are just two points off the relegation zone, this simply does not help their case whatsoever.

The lack of any real commitment to any decision from Meslier was evident, as pinpointed by Jenas as it cost Leeds against Fulham big-time.

While there is no disputing that patience should be afforded with young goalkeepers, his error-prone ways, especially during such trying times are not particularly helpful for his side to say the least.
