Heerenveen have warned Fulham that they must move quickly if they want to bring £10 million-rated right-back Milan van Ewijk to the Premier League during the January transfer window, via the Leeuwarder Courant.
Finding an adequate replacement for one of the Eredivisie’s best attacking full-backs would certainly be easier said than done.
And, if Van Ewijk is to leave Friesland before the month is out, Heerenveen would be happier to sell sooner rather later. Thereby, maximising the amount of time available to find a readymade successor.

Fulham, then, must make their minds up quickly about whether or not to firm up their interest in the Dutch U21 international, with the deadline now just-a-week-and-a-half away.
Fulham are keen on Heerenveen and Eredivisie right-back Milan van Ewijk
“The more the date for close the transfer market approaches, the more we close our door,” says De Haan.
Van Ewijk, scorer of three goals in 16 Eredivisie games this season, is reportedly valued at £10 million (Voetbal International). Fulham scouted the Amsterdam-born 22-year-old during Heerenveen’s 2-0 defeat to title-chasers AZ Alkmaar last week.
The Cottagers are prioritising a new right-back with Kevin Mbabu’s future uncertain. Talks with Arsenal for Portugal international Cedric Soares – who worked with Marco Silva at Sporting Lisbon – are ongoing, though the 31-year-old’s wage demands are likely to be far higher than Van Ewijk’s.
“(The interest) is nice,” Van Ewijk explains, before insisting that he will not blindly sign on the dotted line if the Cottagers come calling.
“The feeling and the plan just have to be right. I’m a guy who goes by feeling. If Fulham doesn’t suit me, then I’m not going. Of course, it is a big step to Fulham. The plan must be good, otherwise I will be wasting my time there.
“It’s hard to say no to a club like that at the moment. Maybe it’s the right time to take this step. I don’t know. It’s hard. On the one hand, I would like to go. But you have to be good think about what you’re leaving behind and whether it’s the right move.”
Van Ewijk admits that he may prefer to make an ‘intermediate’ step before arriving in the Premier League. He highlights the German Bundesliga as a potential alternative destination.
