Liverpool signed Harvey Elliott from Fulham in the summer of 2019, but they have only just learned how much they must pay for him.
The Reds pounced as Elliott’s contract with Fulham expired, luring him to Anfield ahead of major competition for his signature.
Given that Elliott was only 16 at the time of his signing, Fulham were entitled to compensation for the winger – and that’s where the battle really started.
Sky Sports claim that Fulham wanted around £8million for Elliott, but Liverpool only offered a paltry £750,000, with was unsurprisingly rejected.
18 months on from his Anfield move, Elliott’s fee has now been decided at tribunal, with The Mirror reporting that the total deal is worth just £4.3million.
That’s pretty much a compromise between the two prices, with Liverpool paying £1.2million up front, as well as £500,000 for each of his first two professional deals at Anfield according to The Mirror.

Other add-ons would take the deal up to £4.3million, with Liverpool’s £750,000 offer looking a little embarrassing after this ruling.
Fulham’s statement on the matter claims they are ‘very pleased’ with the ruling, with Elliott – currently on loan at Blackburn Rovers – able to put this situation behind him after more than a year of uncertainty.
