A return to the Premier League with Fulham is no longer on the cards for former West Ham United winger Andriy Yarmolenko, Ukrainian reporter Viktor Vatsko says in quotes reported by UA Tribuna.

Earlier this summer, one of Ukraine’s most famous footballing sons spoke openly about his desire to go ‘full circle’. In other ways, to end his career where it all began; At Dynamo Kiev.

But could Yarmolenko’s dream – one that looked to have been wrecked following the Russian invasion of his beloved homeland – be about to turn into reality?

“Andriy Yarmolenko is close to returning to Dynamo Kiev,” Vatsko explains. “(Club president) Igor Surkis urged Yarmolenko to swear by the contract.”

While a possibility of an emotional return to the side where he made his name appears to be growing stronger by the day, the chances of Yarmolenko reviving his Premier League career a few miles down the road from his old London Stadium home look decidedly slim.

Yarmolenko, who’s £115,000-a-week West Ham contract expired a fortnight ago, has been linked with a shock move to newly-promoted Fulham.

But according to Vatsko, neither Fulham nor the MLS, specifically Inter Miami, are currently ‘a topic’ for discussion.

“Now, it’s not a topic. (Inter Milan is) not a topic, or Fulham,” he adds.

Interestingly, Vatkso does claim that there is another Premier League team keen on the 32-year-old – and one from the Championship. Ukrainian legend Sergiy Rebrov, meanwhile, has urged Yarmolenko to consider joining him in the UAE with reigning champions Al-Ain.

“Does Al Ain have a chance to sign Yarmolenko? There is a chance,” Rebrov explains.

“We are considering players for specific positions. The club is trying to work very carefully in the transfer market. Of course, I would love to work with Andriy.

“I’m sure a player of his level will get many offers, not only from the UAE.”
