Tottenham Hotspur have advanced the final of the Champions League after producing a remarkable fightback to beat Ajax 3-2 on Wednesday night.

Spurs headed to Amsterdam with a 1-0 deficit from the first leg of their semi-final clash, and they had barely settled into the game before Matthijs de Ligt doubled Ajax’s aggregate lead.

Playmaker Hakim Ziyech added another for Ajax before half time, whipping a perfect left-footed strike beyond Hugo Lloris for 3-0, and Spurs looked dead and buried.

Needing three second half goals, Lucas Moura pulled one back to give Spurs life, before adding a second just moments later to set up a tense final 30 minutes.

Both teams found the woodwork as Ziyech hit the post before Jan Vertonghen’s header came back off the back, and the follow-up was cleared off the line, seemingly ending Tottenham’s hopes.

However, Moura completed his hat-trick in the 95th minute of the game, sparking wild scenes in Amsterdam as Spurs beat the odds to book a place in the final against Liverpool.

The stunning comeback caught the eye of all associated with football, and Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon – who fancies a move to Spurs this summer according to the London Evening Standard – took to Twitter to react.

The youngster couldn’t believe what he’d seen as Spurs made it through, but Fulham fans weren’t too impressed, believing Sessegnon’s tweet was just pandering to Spurs ahead of a potential move there, suggesting he’d made it clear that he loves Tottenham even though he doesn’t play for them – yet.

Spurs fans also responded, believing that Sessegnon is signing for Tottenham this summer and urging him to make the move having clearly been impressed with what he saw last night.
