Liverpool are still reeling from Sunday’s 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Manchester City, but they face an important day in the transfer market today.
The Reds’ title hopes look to be over, and the attention will now be turning towards the future of Harvey Elliott.
Liverpool swooped to sign Elliott from Fulham in the summer of 2019, luring him to Anfield when his contract with the Cottagers ended.
The two clubs were supposed to agree a compensation fee, but a staggering difference in valuation means the deal has been referred to a tribunal.
Sky Sports claim that Fulham set their demands at around £8million, believing that Elliott is a top talent for the future and they deserve to be compensated accordingly.
Liverpool remarkably offered just £750,000 for Elliott, not even a tenth of what Fulham wanted, so a tribunal will now decide the fee involved.
Elliott, 17, is currently thriving on loan at Blackburn Rovers, and is on course to becoming a Liverpool star of the future – once this situation is resolved.
Fulham fans have been taking to Twitter to react to the situation, fearing the worst in that Liverpool will get a bargain due to ‘big club bias’ whilst predicting a ‘comically low’ fee.
Others it’s ‘disgusting’ that Elliott has been allowed to turn out for Liverpool and loaned to Blackburn without Fulham receiving a penny yet, and think Wolves’ big-money striker Fabio Silva is an example of the kind of cash Fulham deserve.
