Fulham fans took to Twitter on Tuesday night to react to Cauley Woodrow’s performance in the FA Cup shootout win at Wolves.
Fulham secured a 5-3 penalty shootout win at a snowy Wolverhampton Wanderers in Tuesday night’s FA Cup third round replay following a thrilling 3-3 draw after extra-time.
Striker Cauley Woodrow gave the Whites the lead just before the half-hour when he headed home Kostas Stafylidis’ cross, before Wolves hit back in the second-half to go in front with two goals in quick succession from substitute Dave Edwards and Rajiv van La Parra.
Woodrow levelled things at 2-2 in the final 15 minutes to send the match to extra-time, but Edwards looked to be sending Wolves through after adding his second in the 109th-minute.
Ross McCormack’s penalty in the dying seconds forced a shootout, however, with Fulham converting all five of their efforts to secure a fourth-round trip to Sunderland.
“What a way to win a cup tie. It had a bit of everything,” manager Kit Symons told the BBC at the final whistle.
“When Ross McCormack’s shot hit the wall, I thought our chance was gone, but I was delighted the penalty was given and he slotted home coolly.”
With fans rushing to social media after a dramatic result, it was youngster Woodrow who received most of the plaudits, having doubled his goal tally for the season on the night in a surprise start.
