Fulham’s Tom Cairney celebrates scoring their first goal
Fulham scored a late equaliser against Leeds United last night to spark dramatic celebrations.
The point kept Slavisa Jokanovic’s side in touch with the teams in the play-off berths, remaining just five points back from sixth place.
Leeds had led during the fixture through a Tim Ream own goal as early as the fifth minute, but could not quite hold out.
Fulham defender Ryan Fredericks praised Leeds’ defending, when commenting after the game on Twitter, but said that there was no doubt in his mind that the home team were better and deserved a draw as minimum.
Fulham had 73 per cent of possession and attempted 23 shots compared to Leeds’ seven.
They could only register five of the 23 on target, with Leeds managing two.
Leeds were essentially playing with an arm tied behind their backs due to the late injury to 22 goal striker Chris Wood, and the lack of an able deputy, and ultimately a draw was not a bad result for either side.
With teams around them drawing last night, it is a case of ‘as you were’, with nothing gained, but nothing lost either other than a missed opportunity.
