According to Bloomberg, Liverpool are amongst the clubs that Qatar Sports Investments may look at buying a stake in.
QSI are in the market for a slice of the Premier League pie, and while Tottenham Hotspur seem to be the prime candidates at the moment after discussions with Daniel Levy, Liverpool are another club that could be considered.
FSG are looking for new minority investors at the moment, and who better than a multi-billionaire investor group that has turned PSG into one of the biggest clubs in the world in recent years.
QSI’s vast wealth isn’t the only interesting thing they would bring to Liverpool either. The arrival of the Qataris at Anfield would also potentially lead to an interesting partnership with their current club – PSG.
As we’ve seen with the likes of Olympiakos and Nottingham Forest, Udinese and Watford and many others, when two clubs’ ownership overlaps, transfer dealings between the two clubs become a lot easier.
If PSG and Liverpool are to strike this unlikely alliance, that could spell danger for the rest of world football.
Indeed, if PSG and Liverpool link up in this way, transfer dealings between these two clubs could come onto the table, and that may lead to a few blockbuster transfers.
PSG have been strongly linked with Mohamed Salah in the past, while Liverpool have been keen on Renato Sanches before, but the biggest deal that could come of this is undoubtedly a move for Kylian Mbappe from Liverpool.
Now, before we write this off as an incredibly unrealistic pie-in-the-sky move, we mustn’t forget that Mbappe has been strongly linked to Liverpool before.
The player himself actually admitted that he had talks with the Reds when his contract was expiring last summer before he made a further commitment to QSI and PSG – basically becoming a member of the board in the process.
Mbappe’s commitment at the moment is more to QSI than it is to PSG, and if the Qataris do end up buying a share in Liverpool, there’s reason to believe they could aim to manoeuvre their number one asset over to Anfield as Mbappe, perhaps soon, looks towards joining one of Europe’s more historically elite and prestigious clubs.
