Jamie Carragher has outlined in The Telegraph the positives that the Fenway Sports Group (FSG) have done at Liverpool.
In his column for The Telegraph, the former Liverpool defender has listed the four really good things that the FSG have done for the Merseyside club.
Carragher wrote in The Telegraph: “We must stress, of course, it was FSG who headhunted and recruited Klopp and Edwards.
“It was they who sanctioned the record signings of Van Dijk and Alisson, and revolutionised their scouting systems which led to bargains like Salah, Mane, Fabinho and Robertson, ending the 30-year title wait.
“It was they who solved a stadium crisis which had almost led the club into bankruptcy.”
FSG deserve credit
FSG came in for some strong criticism during the Super League debacle last season.
John W. Henry even had to publicly apologise.
There have also been frustration among the fans that Liverpool have not spent as much in transfer windows as Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea have.
After all, the only major signing for the Reds this summer was Ibrahima Konate.
However, we have to acknowledge just how competitive FSG have made Liverpool.
Under the previous owners, the Reds could not compete for the Premier League title.
Under FSG, the Reds have won the Premier League and the Champions League.
As Carragher has pointed out, it was FSG who appointed Jurgen Klopp and Michael Edwards and brought in some wonderful players such as Mohamed Salah and Alisson.
However, FSG need to continue to invest in the squad and keep the team competitive
