Leeds suffered a very damaging defeat earlier today as Everton recorded a 1-0 win over Michael Skubala and the Whites.

An error from Illan Meslier allowed Seamus Coleman to score from an incredibly tight angle, leaving Leeds 19th in the Premier League and just one point off the bottom.

As the seconds ticked away for Leeds inside Goodison Park, an interesting chant could be heard coming from the away section.

What’s the story?

Well – according to Phil Hay of The Athletic – Leeds fans were chanting “Orta, time to go” and “sack the board” as they edged closer to defeat on Merseyside.

Supporters have grown tired of those in the boardroom amid what has been a pretty pathetic response to handing Jesse Marsch his P45.

In the midst of a potentially catastrophic return to the Championship, there was no plan for life after the American, with Leeds seemingly happy to let Skubala, Manager of their Under-21 side, take the reins.

It represents a stark contrast to the succession planning seen when Marcelo Bielsa was harshly sacked – Marsch was appointed as his replacement just one day later.

With few success stories in regards to recruitment as well, you can understand why Leeds fans have had enough of the likes of Orta, Andrea Radrizzani and Angus Kinnear.

Leeds have to bounce back from Everton loss

Leeds take on another struggling side next Saturday in Southampton – if they cannot bounce back from today’s defeat against Everton in that encounter, it could be curtains for the Whites.

A win for the Saints would take them above Leeds and send Skubala’s men to the bottom of the Premier League.

Losing successive six-pointers in the relegation battle would be disastrous for Leeds, and with clashes against Chelsea, Brighton, Wolves and Arsenal to come afterwards, three points are a must against Southampton.
