Dele Alli has posted a message on Instagram to describe his injury battle as ‘frustrating’.

Dele Alli of England controls the ball during the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia group G match between Tunisia and England at Volgograd Arena on June 18, 2018 in Volgograd, Russia.

Tottenham star Alli picked up an injury in England’s World Cup opener against Tunisia and was substituted for Ruben Loftus-Cheek in the second half.

Loftus-Cheek impressed and is in line to start for the Three Lions against Panama on Sunday if Alli cannot prove his fitness.

Alli admits he faces a battle to get fit but still holds out hope.

With Loftus-Cheek impressing, and England favoured to beat Panama, even if Alli does not make the team, he should get a chance to feature against Belgium in the final match.

England can qualify for the last 16 with a win over Panama.

Tottenham fans will be hoping Gareth Southgate does not risk Alli by rushing him back, and fortunately the Three Lions are in no need to.

If anything, Alli may need saving from his own desperation to return too soon.
