David Seaman told talkSPORT that it is ‘frustrating’ that Arsenal are now going for Aaron Ramsdale after letting Emi Martinez leave last summer.

The former England international shared that Ramsdale would be a ‘brilliant’ addition, but he has seemingly questioned Arsenal’s transfer strategies.

Arsenal are on the lookout for a new goalkeeper this summer and it seems as though they have made Sheffield United’s number one their main target.

Seaman knows full well the pressures of donning the gloves for the North London club, as he shared his thoughts on Ramsdale.

“If Ramsdale comes then it would be brilliant,” said Seaman. “But then, on the other hand, you question ‘why did we let Martinez go?’.

“You let him go, who is a proven Premier League goalkeeper and then all of a sudden we are going to be paying £30 million for another one.

“So, it’s a little bit frustrating. But Martinez has gone and we do need to strengthen that goalkeeping position because there are rumours about Leno, whether he is going to stay or not.

“We don’t really know. But it’s a position that does need strengthening.”

As the new Premier League season draws closer, Arsenal fans want those signings in the bag because there needs to be serious changes to their squad.

Not only from the incomings aspect, but also those leaving the club, because there hasn’t exactly been great movement on that front either.

As for Ramsdale, the 23-year-old has top-flight experience, but two of those resulted in relegation, and with separate clubs.

So, it is perhaps understandable if certain aspects of the Arsenal support are unsure about putting serious dough on the table for his shot-stopping talents.
