Some Arsenal fans on Twitter are far from happy after Telegraph journalist Sam Dean tweeted an update on William Saliba’s short-term future at the club.
The journalist stated that the French centre-back is expected to go out on loan in January, and that his destination is set to be decided in the coming days.
The youngster spent last season out on loan at St. Etienne, and he certainly impressed in Ligue 1.
Gunner supporters were eager to see what Saliba could offer the Arsenal first-team this term, but for one reason or another he’s not been put into the side by Mikel Arteta, and now he’s set to depart the club on a temporary basis once again.
This is even more frustrating due to how poor Arsenal have been this season, and Saliba could have added another dynamic to a struggling squad.
However, it seems as though we will now have to wait until next year to see Saliba play a role at Arsenal, but 18 months on from his £30 million arrival, it’s frustrating that he isn’t yet deemed ready for the first-team.
We can only hope that this loan spell will allow him to prepare for the rigours of Premier League football.
