Leeds United goalkeeper Marco Silvestri has vowed to keep working hard as he continues to adjust to being second choice.

The Italian is in his third season at Elland Road but has been demoted to the role of understudy this campaign after veteran Robert Green was signed.

Silvestri, 25, sent a message out on Instagram this morning expressing his current mindset.

He wrote: “A person who falls and gets back up is much stronger than a person who never fell. #resilience

Silvestri impressed earlier in the campaign in the EFL Cup when he performed heroics in the penalty shoot out victory at Norwich – although his most recent performance against Sutton United was not so memorable.

He may be frustrated to be sitting on the bench but he is clearly trying to stay motivated so that he is ready when called upon.

The Italian is under contract at Leeds until June 2018, and with Green recently turning 37, Silvestri may well still harbour ambitions he can re-establish himself as the club’s number one.
