Speaking on the Molineux View Podcast, Tim Spiers has claimed that Wolves are interested in Bournemouth striker Joshua King.

The Norwegian forward has 51 caps for his country, and he’s a proven goalscorer at this level, once banging in 16 goals in a single Premier League campaign for the Cherries.

Spiers was going through a number of players that Wolves had looked into signing, including Divock Origi and Luka Jovic, before going on to speak about the Midlands club’s interest in King.

“And another one who has been doing the rounds for quite a few clubs is Josh King at Bournemouth who has had great success in the Premier League before, scored a fair amount of goals and he’s not playing for Bournemouth at the moment because he’s out of contract in the summer as well,” Spiers said.

“But that’s a bit of an issue in that if Bournemouth are going to move him on now, they’re not going to loan him, because he’s out of contract in the summer, so why would they do that when they’re going for promotion.

“So it would only be a sale, and from what I’m told, they’d probably be looking for around £10 million for a player who is out of contract in the summer, as is their right, they’re not going to sell him on the cheap, so I think that would be a bit of a sticking point for Wolves at this moment in time.”

The more you think about this signing the more it makes sense.

£10m is a great deal for a striker with such a proven goalscoring record at this level, and once Raul Jimenez returns from his injury, King can add depth across the front three, proving for Bournemouth that he’s also able to play out wide.

Wolves certainly need a striker through the door this month, and they could do a lot worse than bringing King in.

Of course, signing him is easier said than done, after all, Spiers says he’s on the radar of a number of clubs, with West Ham being long-term admirers.
