Speaking on The Molineux View Podcast, Tim Spiers has given us an update on Wolves striker Raul Jimenez’s potential return from injury after suffering a fractured skull against Arsenal.
As you can imagine, a fractured skull isn’t an injury that only keeps you out for a couple of weeks, and Spiers has said that from what he’s been told and from the way people at the club are asking, he doesn’t expect Jimenez to be playing any football for the remainder of this season.
“I do get asked this quite a lot, when will Jimenez return? Because it hasn’t been specifically discussed by anyone at Wolves, in terms of timescale, but from what I’m told, without putting a timescale on it, from the way they’re acting I wouldn’t expect him to be back this season, I think that’d be unlikely,” Spiers said.
“Anyone who saw the images and the video recently where he showed his scar to the camera, I mean, you know. I think people saw him at the training ground and going to matches and maybe thought he might be back sooner than expected, but he will not be rushed, I mean, goodness me. I don’t expect him to be back this season.”

Of course, this is disappointing news as Jimenez is a joy to watch when he’s on the pitch, but it is very good to hear that Wolves will not be rushing him back.
You could excuse any team for trying to get their star striker back in action as soon as possible, but at the end of the day, Jimenez’s wellbeing is so much more important than results on the pitch, so it’s great to hear that his situation is being handled carefully.
Hopefully Jimenez is back fit and firing next season, but for now let’s just hope his recovery goes as planned.
