“From what I’m told”: Journalist now shares inside information from Tottenham

Tottenham find themselves in turmoil right now as things go from bad to worse under Daniel Levy in N17.

Spurs are still without a manager after firing Antonio Conte, and have now sacked Cristian Stellini from his role as Interim Manager after Sunday’s 6-1 defeat to Newcastle.

Tottenham are also without a Director of Football after Fabio Paratici was banned for 30 months.

At a time where Spurs need experienced players to step up and take control of things on the pitch amid such a mess, it is actually one of their younger squad members who is speaking out.

What’s the story?

Well – according to Football London’s Alasdair Gold – it was Oliver Skipp who spoke up and told his teammates some home truths midway through their hammering on Tyneside.

Speaking about the 22-year-old on his YouTube channel, Gold said: “At half-time, I know for quite a quiet chap, he was very angry from what I’m told. He was properly telling more senior players what he believed to be some of the issues in that first-half.”

That must have been pretty humbling for the likes of Cristian Romero – a World Cup winner – Ivan Perisic and other experienced stars in that dressing room. Fair play to Skipp.

It would have been easy for the England Under-21 international to just sit back in the shadows and let his older teammates deal with the situation against Newcastle.

However, Skipp stepped up and let his feelings be known, suggesting he has more leadership qualities within the side than most would think.

Skipp is a future Tottenham captain

Back in 2020, José Mourinho claimed that Skipp is capable of captaining Tottenham in future.

The Portuguese coach told the Evening Standard: “I think he’s genuinely Tottenham’s future. He’s one of these players by human quality, by personality, he is one of these kids that I have no doubt he will be an important player for Tottenham.

“I see this kid being one day a future captain here by his character, by his personality.”

By the sounds of what happened up at Newcastle, Mourinho was spot on.

While Skipp and Tottenham fans would ideally like things to be more positive right now, these difficult experiences will surely make their No.4 a better player in the long run.
