Alasdair Gold has told his YouTube channel that Antonio Conte wants to make four signings at Tottenham, labelling them “priorities”. Spurs are yet to make a signing in the January transfer window, but are expected to do so.

When Conte replaced Nuno Espirito Santo, there was a belief that the arrival of the Italian would mean he had been promised money to spend. If they are to push for the top four, then improvements are certainly needed.

Conte has implemented a 3-4-3 system. Ben Davies remains the only option on the left of the back three. A left-footed central defender is said to be one of the four positions that the Italian gaffer wants to strengthen.

Spurs have Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Harry Winks and Oliver Skipp in the middle – and another option is also said to be needed, according to Gold. Gold also says Conte wants a right wing-back, and a back-up striker.

“There is a feeling within the club that Spurs need a right wing-back, a left-sided centre-back and a striker. From what I understand, Conte agrees with that, but also would like a central midfielder. Four priority positions.”

Gold on Tottenham transfers: Conte has it bang on with four priorities

Tottenham need signings. They need to improve their starting XI, it lacks the quality capable of keeping up with the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and West Ham in the race to finish in the top four.

Davies is solid, but they can do better on the left side of the back three. A more-talented central midfielder is crucial, while Conte simply does not fancy Emerson Royal at right-back. Reports have made that clear.

Tottenham did not bring in a striker in the summer after Carlos Vinicius left, and if Harry Kane does get injured – they have little, to no cover. So, those four signings are needed – but in January? Who knows.
