Speaking to Matt Hayes’ Tottenham Blog on YouTube, Fabrizio Romano has issued an update on Dele Alli as rumours continue to swirl about his future at Spurs.

Alli has been linked with a move away from Spurs for quite some time, and Romano has now given us more details on a potential exit.

Somewhat unsurprisingly, Mauricio Pochettino’s name was brought up by the journalist here, with the Italian claiming that the ex-Spurs manager is still waiting to understand the right strategy at his new club before making a move for him.

“Yes, for sure, Dele Alli, from what I know is not happy obviously with the situation, he is not playing, so it is normal when a talented player, I love Dele Alli, so when you have a player like this that is not playing it is normal that he’s considering to leave the club,” Romano said.

“As I’ve said many times, just because he wants to have space, to have space to play, that’s his priority in the transfer window. We will see if PSG will move, at the moment as you say Pochettino is still waiting to understand the right strategy.

“But what we can say, it won’t be easy to find an agreement with Tottenham, just because Daniel Levy, as you know, it’s never easy to make a negotiation with Daniel Levy, when he wants to sell players he wants to sell at their value, and he’s not changing anything, so it won’t be so easy.”

Alli’s situation at Tottenham seems to be rather complicated this month.

Jose Mourinho is reportedly happy for him to go, and the player reportedly wants to leave on a permanent deal, but Daniel Levy isn’t going to let him go on the cheap.

While this must be quite frustrating for the two-time PFA Young Player of the Year winner, it has to be said that Levy is doing right by his club by not accepting a small fee for an immensely talented footballer.

This is a situation that is definitely worth keeping an eye on in the coming weeks.
