Speaking on The Done Deal Show, Dean Jones has been discussing Armando Broja and West Ham’s reported interest in the Albanian.
The Hammers are reportedly closing in on a deal for the striker, but according to Jones, this has been something of a complicated deal.
Indeed, Jones says that there’s been something of a discrepancy in the asking prices for Broja.
The reporter claims that West Ham have been quoted a fee of £30m for the striker, while other clubs have only been asked to pay around £20m for the striker.
West Ham, understandably, weren’t happy about that, but they’re going to cough up the cash to get this deal over the line.

Jones spoke about Broja’s asking price and West Ham.
“From what I hear there has been a bit of a discrepancy, West Ham were told he’d be £30m, but other clubs have been told closer to £20m. West Ham have found out about that and they’re wondering why they’d been told he was £10m more than anyone else had been told,” Jones said.
“There was some miscommunication there perhaps internally at Chelsea as a result of the takeover, but because of that it’s all been drawn out and it looks to me like if there will be a permanent deal it could be around £25m. Ultimately West Ham know that it will cost them the extra £5m to get him, but that’s the thing to do. It’s looking like a £30m deal at the moment and that is the price they were given in talks.”
Rival premium
West Ham have been quoted £10m more than most clubs to sign Broja, and perhaps one reason why is because the Hammers are now seen as genuine rivals to Chelsea.
Indeed, David Moyes’ side have been pushing for the top four over the past two seasons, and the signing of Broja could catapult them towards actually finishing in those Champions League spots.
In an ideal world, Chelsea don’t want to strengthen their rivals, so we can understand why they’d want more money if they’re to sell to the Hammers.
West Ham have paid a little over the odds, but Broja may well be one of the signings of the summer, even at this price.
