Don Hutchison says ‘from what I hear’ Bill Kenwright’s time at Everton will be up ‘in the next seven days’ and he will head for the exit door.

It has been another season of struggle and decline from Everton, both on and off the field of play, with the Merseyside club narrowly avoiding relegation on the last day of the 2022/23 Premier League season.

Throughout the campaign, there have been calls from the Goodison Park faithful to ‘sack the board’, with a number of high-profile members leaving once the season was over and now Hutchison says Bill Kenwright will follow suit, as he told ESPN.

It has been a long time coming because the fans have lost complete trust in those who have been given the power to make big decisions at the club.

If Kenwright does leave, it’s not the end of the club’s problems, but it can allow the Premier League giants to pick themselves up and try to move forward.

Avoiding relegation, albeit it shouldn’t be celebrated, is a relief and a possible step forward, but Hutchison shared that, with the club set to move into the new stadium soon, then they just have to do everything to stop themselves from going down next season.

“Sharpy went, Barrett-Baxendale went as well, then one or two directors went,” said Hutchison. “I think Bill’s going to go, from what I hear, in the next seven days.

“Obviously, they are trying to get new investment in, then take them into the new stadium (without going down next season).”

All trust in Sean Dyche

If it wasn’t for Sean Dyche, then Everton would have headed down to the Championship last season, so fans will be grateful to their coach.

But there is going to be a lot of pressure on him next season because of the dark clouds that are still hovering above Finch Farm and how his hands are well and truly tied in the transfer market.

There is no doubt that he has his work cut out, but whilst fans trust very few people at the club now, one man they can rely on is the man in the dugout.
