Arsenal’s Emile Smith Rowe has shared that Tottenham striker Harry Kane told him to be ‘confident’ and to ‘enjoy yourself’ after being called up by England.
The Arsenal academy product told his pre-match press conference ‘that’s what you want to hear’ from the England captain.
The Tottenham and Arsenal duo may well be rivals on the domestic stage, but they will be looking to link up and work their magic for England on Friday night against Albania.
Gareth Southgate’s side are taking part in their final two World Cup qualifiers during these coming days, with the final game away at the mighty San Marino.
Nonetheless, following Smith Rowe’s debut call for his country, he shared what Kane told him as the captain.
“Just be confident,” said Smith Rowe. “Enjoy yourself, you know. I think that’s important for a young player.
“From the captain, that’s what you want to hear. Try to get as comfortable as I can and ask quick as possible, so I can prove myself to my teammates.”

It will be interesting to see how much game time Smith Rowe gets during these forthcoming matches.
There is a lot of competition ahead of the ball carrying expert, but even then, there aren’t many who are in better form than him.
Smith Rowe has scored in three Premier League games on the bounce and it would be a shame if he doesn’t, at the least, come off the bench for both matches.
Either way, that’s two Hale-End stars now repping themselves on one of the biggest stages of them all.
And it just goes to show how strong Arsenal’s academy is because they are in safe hands with Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka leading the way.
