Speaking on the Ornstein & Chapman podcast, David Ornstein has shared that people within Arsenal’s training ground believe that there needs to be a huge culture change at the club.
It seems as though the prevailing view at London Colney is that the players have become too comfortable and have begun resting on their laurels at the club, and that is an issue that certainly needs addressing.
Arsenal’s performances on the pitch this season have certainly indicated that something needs to change on the training ground, and now Ornstein has said that people inside the club agree with that view.
“In the past London Colney was seen as a zen and a spa, and criticism didn’t breach the walls and it was a place that so many players wanted to play,” Ornstein said.
“But from people inside I hear, there needs to be a cultural change, they need to get out of this comfort zone. They need to change the mindset and push each other in a way that hasn’t been happening for a number of years now.
“And that doesn’t just happen overnight, that is going to take time and is going to need patience, and those are two qualities people don’t want to hear.”

Of course, it’s easy to say that there needs to be a culture change, but implementing such a thing is a little more difficult.
The question remains, is Mikel Arteta the right man to turn things around at Arsenal?
Arsene Wenger said last week that if a manager hasn’t implemented his culture with three months they’re pretty much a lost cause, and here we are 12 months after Arteta’s arrival and he’s not managed to get the club into a healthy position.
Time will tell whether or not things can be salvaged at Arsenal this season.
