Speaking on the BBC Transfer Gossip Daily Podcast, David Ornstein has shared what he’s heard about Tanguy Ndombele and reported interest from Everton.

The Toffees are in a bit of a sticky situation at the moment, and they’re keen to bring in reinforcements to help their cause as they stare a relegation battle in the face.

One man they have been linked with is Ndombele, but Ornstein has been told that the Frenchman would rather play abroad, claiming that a move to Goodison Park would only be on the agenda if no European clubs come in for him.

What’s Ornstein said about Ndombele?

The journalist responded when asked about Ndombele moving to Everton.

“How do I say this diplomatically? From people I speak to, Tanguy Ndombele is more suited to football in a different country. In terms of the fact that he doesn’t seem to have settled well into English football. So why would going to Everton solve that issue? Only if there are no teams on the continent who are willing to pay his salary or present an attractive enough proposition for him,” Ornstein said.

“Everton, they need fighters at the minute, they need warriors who will get their hands dirty, and I don’t think we’ve seen that from Ndombele at Tottenham. A loan would suit Everton because they’re in a bit of a tricky situation financially, I just think this one is unlikely, if he is to leave Tottenham before the deadline it’s more likely that he’ll go abroad,” Ornstein said.

Makes sense

If a player is struggling with the rigours of the Premier League, why would they then join a struggling team in that very division?

Ndombele has a lot of quality, but he needs to join a team that can control games where he’ll have a lot of time on the ball, and Everton simply aren’t that side right now.

We can’t blame Ndombele for not fancying the move to Goodison Park, because, quite simply, this switch wouldn’t suit him.
