Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, Duncan Castles has shared how Massimiliano Allegri feels about replacing Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds United.
Reports emerged earlier this week that Allegri has been approached with a view to becoming Leeds United manager when Bielsa eventually leaves the club.
Unfortunately for the Whites, it doesn’t seem as though Allegri will be in the Elland Road dugout anytime soon.
“It doesn’t look like Allegri will be convinced in this case. The information I have from people close to him is that an approach was made, but it didn’t particularly excite him. He has an offer from AS Roma at present, from the new owners to come back to Italian football and coach there, but he said no thank you,” Castles said.
“As we’ve said before, he’s waiting for one of the biggest jobs in world football. He wants a club at the very top level who he can win the Champions League with.”

This is a massive shame, but to be fair, we can’t blame Allegri.
With all due respect to Leeds United, if Allegri went from being a two-time Champions League runner-up to joining a club that was in the Championship just 12 months ago, that would be something of a step down.
Allegri has the pedigree and the CV to get a job at one of Europe’s super clubs, and while the Leeds project is interesting, they’re not perennial silverware contenders.
It seems as though we can put this rumour to bed.
