Tottenham are reportedly interested in signing Everton forward Ademola Lookman.
Reports from The Mirror over the weekend have suggested that Tottenham Hotspur are again interested in signing Everton forward Ademola Lookman, having tracked him at Charlton.
Lookman, 19, emerged from nowhere to become a key player with Charlton, scoring 12 times in 49 games for the Addicks before earning a Premier League move in January of this year, joining Everton.
With a debut goal against Manchester City, Lookman immediately showed his talent and potential, but he has been sparingly used by manager Ronald Koeman, making no Premier League appearances this season.
Lookman deserves more having shown his pace and trickery both in fleeting substitutes appearances and for the Under-23’s, and Everton now risk losing him as interest mounts ahead of the January transfer window.
The Mirror claim that Tottenham Hotspur – who tracked Lookman during his time with Charlton – are again interested in signing Lookman, and could make a January move.
With limited first-team opportunities under Koeman, Lookman should be heavily considering a move, and he may well be better off with Tottenham under Mauricio Pochettino than he is at Everton under Koeman.
Pochettino has become known for given opportunities to young players, trusting them in his first team despite their inexperience, and Lookman could fit the bill for Spurs, providing burst and skill in the final third that Spurs have sometimes been accused of lacking.
Koeman, conversely, is a much more pragmatic manager than Pochettino, and even with Everton lacking a spark in attack, the Dutchman still hasn’t turned to Lookman, highlighting just how under-utilised the teenager is.
Add in that a move to Spurs would hand him a return to London, and a Tottenham deal may look appealing for Lookman, who must be frustrated with his lack of playing time this season.
