Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool could fail in the quest to sign Ousmane Dembele on a free transfer this summer due to a contract offer from Barcelona, according to a report in The Daily Mail.
Liverpool linked with Ousmane Dembele
Sport reported on May 28 that Liverpool are among the clubs interested in signing Dembele.
Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are the other two clubs reported to be keen on the France international winger.
Sport claimed that Liverpool have made contact in regard to signing the 25-year-old.
However, it seems that Dembele is now open to staying at Barcelona.

The Frenchman is a free agent at the moment, with his contract at the La Liga club having run out.
Barcelona stay after pay-cut
However, The Daily Mail have reported that Dembele could now sign a new contract with Barcelona.
The former Borussia Dortmund star – whose “pace is frightening in training”, according to comments from former Barcelona star Lionel Messi in GiveMeSport in March 2020 – will reportedly take a ‘substantial pay cut’ to commit his future to the Blaugrana.
The report has claimed that Dembele’s agent agent Moussa Sissoko and Barcelona held a meeting on Saturday, and that ‘there is a strong belief an accord can be found once a few minor differences are ironed out and director of football Mateu Alemany gives the green light’.
It seems that despite Liverpool making contact, Dembele will reject the Reds and stay at Barcelona.
