Former Tottenham goalkeeper Brad Freidel has become manager of MLS outfit New England.

The 46-year-old, who retired from professional football with Spurs in 2015, was appointed the head coach of Major League Soccer side New England Revolution this month after a spell in charge of the USA Under-19’s side.
The former Liverpool, Aston Villa and Blackburn stopper played under Pochettino in the Argentinian’s first season in charge of Spurs during the 2014-15 season, and was full of praise for his old manager.

He claimed that Pochettino is up there with the best managers in the world currently, and commended his desire to cover every last detail. The 82-time USA international also stated that he hopes to have learned from Pochettino as he embarks on a career in management.
“He’s one of the very best out there and I have no problem saying that,” Friedel said. “His attention to detail and what I was able to see and learn from him, was priceless.
“He knows the tactics that he wants to play, and yes he knows how to implement them in training, but it’s all the extracurriculars around being a head coach that he manages himself, his staff, and all around him so well.
“I’m not surprised he’s doing so well, and the players have a bigger value than when he came into the changing room. I expect him to be a very good coach for a very long time.”

Pochettino will be in the dugout at the Westfalenstadion in Germany on Tuesday night, as he and his Spurs players look to secure top spot in Group H of the Champions League ahead of Real Madrid with three points against Borussia Dortmund.
Spurs will be without defender Toby Alderweireld, as well as midfielders Victor Wanyama and Erik Lamela for the clash, but Danny Rose has returned to the squad and is in contention to start.
