Former Villa goalkeeper Brad Friedel has spoken to Sky Sports and offered his thoughts on the type of manager his former club should be looking to appoint.
The former American international stopper was interviewed by Sky Sports (broadcast at 09:36 on October 4th) in relation to the current problems at Villa Park.
Club owner Tony Xia finally ran out of patience with Roberto Di Matteo yesterday, and relieved him of his duties in the Villa Park hot-seat.

Friedel explained how it is crucial that the Villa hierarchy get the next appointment right, telling Sky Sports:
“It’s a wonderful club, a massive club. I really hope that the next appointment is done quickly, and I hope it’s done with someone who knows Aston Villa, and knows what the supporters need and want and resurrects the players and gets them up that table and back into the Premier League.”
With the Midlands giants languishing in 19th position in the Championship table at present, changes certainly need to be made if they are have any hope of challenging for the promotion spots, with nearly a quarter of the season gone already.

Next up for Villa is a crucial three-game spell, where an away trip to Reading is sandwiched by home games against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Fulham respectively, and nine points from those three games could instantly transform the Villans’ season.
One thing is for certain, Tony Xia cannot afford to get his next managerial appointment wrong.
