Following Brooks Koepka’s confirmed departure, LIV Golf are now under increased pressure to retain Bryson DeChambeau.

There was always going to be a response when the Saudi-backed league lost one of their biggest stars. Now, preventing Koepka from becoming the first in a line of high-profile departures in the coming years is vital.

In that context, no player seems more critical to LIV’s future than Bryson DeChambeau.

DeChambeau, like Koepka, is set to become a free agent at the end of next year. While he has spoken positively about LIV’s direction in the past, his comments have been less committal since Koepka’s departure.

While that could be seen as a sign he is thinking about moving on, it might just reflect the strong bargaining position he currently holds.

There is no doubt DeChambeau has leverage in any negotiation. And it appears he knows it.

According to The Times, insiders believe he will stay with LIV as long as he feels properly compensated.

Bryson DeChambeau’s best move may be to stay with LIV Golf

Keeping DeChambeau away from the PGA Tour will be a win for LIV. His popularity makes him one of their most important assets, and losing him would be a significant setback.

LIV have faced plenty of criticism, but staying put might actually be the best move for the 32-year-old at this stage of his career.

Since joining, he has become one of their biggest success stories, finishing inside the top 10 in six of the last eight majors and winning another US Open title. He also stands as the only player in the league to have won a major since making the switch.

The structure seems to fit him well too, giving him time to grow his YouTube presence and solidifying his status as one of LIV’s biggest stars.

Back on the PGA Tour, he would likely still perform well, but it would be harder for him to stand out alongside regular names like Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy.

While DeChambeau holds significant leverage in these talks, it is worth noting that LIV have played a key role in elevating his profile within the sport.
